Today's learnings

So I've started up Jujitsu again and boy did I get rolled today. I'm staring at all the marks on my neck (from being choked out all day) as I type. The good thing about getting your butt kicked is that you learn quite a bit.

Alternate way break the full-guard

  1. Grab the belt or place hands on the pelvis. No matter what, you have to have apply downwards pressure to the waist.
  2. Posture up on your knees while applying downwards pressure on your opponent's pelvic area.
  3. Shift your knee underneath your opponent's butt to create leverage.
  4. Posture upwards to break the guard.
  5. Move and pin the leg of your opponent with the knee you used to create leverage.
  6. Swing your other leg around and enter side control.
Arm bar from full guard
  1. Grab the sleeve of your opponent with one hand and pull towards your chest.
  2. Grab the upper part of the same sleeve with your other arm to control the arm.
  3. Place foot on pelvis on the opposite side of the controlled arm.
  4. Push outwards while sliding your back out the opposite side. This should transition into the first part of the arm bar.
  5. Slide your other leg over to close the arm bar.
  6. Straighten your back.
Tips
  • Don't try to choke from the underneath the full mount. You are begging to get arm barred.
  • Don't grab your foot when closing the triangle choke. Grab the shin.
